The Association on American Indian Affairs has several scholarships available to assist Native people in obtaining undergraduate and graduate college degrees. Eligibility requirements include proof of tribal enrollment, blood quantum showing one fourth Indian blood and a FAFSA on file. The American Association Retired Persons Foundation offers scholarships for women age 40 and over. Eligibility requirements and applications can be found at www.aarpfoundationwlc.org.

The A&F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors, as well as, all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution and must be between the ages of 16 and 30. Information and applications can be found at www.abbottandfenner.com.

AES Engineering Services has scholarships available to students attending post-secondary institutions. Students are asked to submit an essay and are judged on the basis of character. Information can be found at www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.php.

The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing offers several scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students attending an accredited institution as a full-time student. Scholarships are limited to students who are prelingually deaf or hard of hearing and who use speech or speech reading to communicate. The American Association of University Women has numerous grant and fellowship applications for graduate students. Information on eligibility, deadlines and applications can be located at www.aauw.org.

The center has undergraduate and graduate scholarships and fellowships available for those students who are enrolled members of a US federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native Group or possess one fourth degree (federally recognized) Indian blood. Applications will be available in January for the 2008-2009 academic year at www.aigcs.org.

The Business and Professional Women’s Foundation (BPW) offers this scholarship to provide financial assistance to disadvantaged women seeking to further their education. The application and guidelines for the scholarship can be found at www.bpwusa.org.

The Orphan Foundation of America awards scholarships to those students who have spent at least 12 months in foster care and were not subsequently adopted. Students must be under age 25 and be attending an accredited post-secondary program at the undergraduate level. Applications and additional requirements can be found at www.orphan.org.

The EFWA has scholarships available to women in transition or need who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in accounting. Students must be US Citizens and attending a school in the US. Scholarships are offered each year EFWA has funding. Applications will be posted in January at www.efwa.org along with eligibility requirements.

The Ethel Louis Armstrong Foundation, Inc. offers scholarships to women with disability currently pursuing graduate degrees. Eligibility requirements and applications can be found at www.ela.org.

The Hispanic College Fund has several scholarships available to students at the undergraduate and graduate level who attend universities within the US. Eligibility requirements and applications can be found at www.hispanicfund.org.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund promotes higher education in the Latino community by offering several scholarships for students pursuing their first undergraduate or graduate degree. Students must be US citizens or permanent residents, enroll full-time and attend an accredited institution. Eligibility requirements and applications can be found at www.hsf.net.

The Hmong National Development(HND) group awards scholarships to aspiring young students who show potential to succeed. Students must be attending an accredited college or university. Information and applications can be obtained at www.hndinc.org.

The Jeanette Rankin Foundation offers scholarships for fall 2008 to low-income women, age 35 and older who are US citizens. Students must be pursuing a technical education, associate degree or a first bachelor degree at a regionally accredited school. Eligibility requirements and applications can be found at www.rankinfoundation.org through February.

Zonta International awards scholarships for women in their third or fourth year of an undergraduate business program. Applications can be found at www.zonta.org along with eligibility requirements.

The Millennium Woman group awards scholarships to single parent women who have financial need. Applications can be found at www.themw.org.

The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) offers scholarships to recognize achievement by blind scholars. Eligible students must be legally blind, attend as a degree-seeking student at a US institution and participate in the entire NFB national convention and all scheduled scholarship program activities. Eligibility requirements and applications can be found at www.nfb.org. In addition, a request for a copy of an application to be mailed can be directed to scholarships@nfb.org.

The Minnesota Community Foundation is a statewide organization working to provide grants and scholarships throughout the state. A list of scholarships and requirements can be found on their website www.mncommunityfoundation.org.

The Page Education Foundation awards grants to student of color that attend colleges, universities and technical colleges within the state of Minnesota and are seeking an undergraduate degree. Eligible students must demonstrate financial need and agree to participate in an annual community service project. Eligibility requirements and applications can be found at www.page-ed.org.

The foundation offers scholarships for low-income women with minor children. The student must be enrolled in a skills training, ESL or GED program; or pursuing a technical/ vocational degree, associate degree, a first bachelor degree or a professional/master/ doctoral degree in an accredited program. The Point Foundation awards scholarships for meritorious students who are marginalized due to sexual orientation, gender expression or gender identity. Scholarships are available to undergraduate and graduate students who attend accredited institutions in the US. Point Scholars are chosen for their demonstrated leadership, scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, involvement in the LGBT community and financial or emotional need. The Talbot’s Charitable Foundation has scholarships available to women who obtained their high school diploma or GED at least 10 years ago and are now pursuing an undergraduate degree from an accredited two or four year college or university or vocational-technical school. Stafford Loan Forgiveness Program for Teachers

To encourage individuals to enter and remain in the teaching profession, the Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program grants loan forgiveness up to $17500 for teacher in certain specialties and up to $5000 for other teachers who teach for five years in low-income schools and meet other requirements. National Health Service Corps Loan Forgiveness Program for Health Professionals

This program repays a portion of student loans if a student works in under-served areas. Professions that may qualify for this program include primary care nurse practitioners, marriage and family therapists, licensed professional counselors, licensed psychologists and licensed social workers. Loan Forgiveness for Public Service Employees (PDF) - Under this program, borrowers may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance due on their eligible federal student loans after they have made 120 payments on those loans under certain repayment plans while employed full time by certain public service employers.
